WhatsApp is the most famous messaging app in the world. There will be no WhatsApp support for older iOS and Android versions starting February 2020, CNET reported.
The company announced before that it is ending support for Windows Phones from December 31st which means no WhatsApp on Windows Phones.
To continue using WhatsApp, the FAQ suggests updating to an Android running OS 4.0.3 or higher, iOS 9 or higher, or select phones running KaiOS 2.5.1 or higher, including JioPhone and JioPhone 2.
Older OS versions pose threats to a lot of things. Considering the reports of Israeli spyware programs infecting and stalking people by injecting spyware, it is a good move by WhatsApp to completely discontinue support for older phones and OSs.
WhatsApp support won’t be available for older iOS versions starting February 2020. Users should either update their phones to the latest OS version or will have to buy other smartphones to keep using the messaging app. This includes the users of Android as well as they’ll have to update their device to at least version 4.0.3 or later if they want to continue using WhatsApp.
